You previously saw Larissa’s cozy sunny bedroom on our journal. You see that mini house tour here.

We meet Larissa in a beautiful canal house in the city center of Delft. You look out over a beautiful canal and one of Delft’s churches. They emigrated from Canada to the Netherlands more than ten years ago and recently moved to this house. The house was in excellent condition but had lacked love and attention for many years. Larissa has changed that in a short time. As an artist she knows how to make exactly the right combinations to give a house a personality and make it a home. Even if that is hundreds of kilometers from your native country.

A kitchen make-over

The entire house lacked comfort and coziness. The floors were worn out, the walls and ceilings no longer neat. So that was the first point of attention. The old kitchen was dated and not functionally furnished. There was a large high bar that blocked the view of the kitchen, and next to it a large refrigerator that caught the eye in a negative way. That did not fit the wishes and needs of Larissa and her family. The old kitchen was replaced by a kitchen with a warm, calm appearance. Consisting of a functional base from IKEA, oak veneer kitchen fronts from K14 and custom oak handles complete the whole. The worktop is light, the warm beige color fits perfectly with the favorite color palette of the rest of the house.

The kitchen is now not just a nice warm space to be present in. The space is also naturally connected to the dining room and sitting area. Also a nice detail: The kitchen island extends a little further into the room. As a result, the worktop also continues around the corner. This creates a nice corner where you can place a vase of flowers, beautiful ceramics or a work done by the children.

Wooden handles as a nice detail

Handles can give a kitchen its own unique look and complete the look. There are countless possibilities. For example, this kitchen mainly has pressure closures so that most doors could remain flat. The refrigerator, freezer and dishwasher were fitted with custom handles in the type of wood and color of the fronts. The handle is a subtle addition without disrupting the whole. An inspiring detail is that the handle on the freezer and refrigerator (and also the cupboard next to it) is visually continuous. Another way to bring peace to the appearance of the kitchen.

We are curious what you think of this kitchen and the choices Larissa made. Has it given you inspiration and ideas? We would like to hear it!
